By Plane:

Fly British Airways to Bordeaux from Gatwick at www.ba.com or from Luton at www.easyjet.com. Driving time is 1 hour 30 minutes and is 120 km away.

Bergerac, our nearest airport which is 22 km and 15 minutes drive away, is accessible from East Midlands, Liverpool or Stansted at
www.ryanair.co.uk or from Birmingham, Bristol, Exeter, Leeds or Southampton at www.flybe.com.

All flight times are approximately 1 hour 20 minutes. For car hire at both Bordeaux and Bergerac Airports, go to

A taxi can be reserved from Bergerac Airport by calling 0033 5 53 23 32 32. This costs around 35€ (£20) to Saussignac. Please let us know if you intend on taking a taxi and we will send you directions to the Property written in French.

By Train:

If you prefer the train, take the high speed TGV from Paris to Libourne (3 hours), which is on the outskirts of Bordeaux, and then the train from Libourne to Gardonne (1 hour) which is 2 km from Les Marais.


By Ferry/Channel Tunnel:

You can catch a ferry from Dover to Calais at www.poferries.com or take the Channel Tunnel from Folkestone to Calais at www.eurotunnel.com. It is approximately 600 miles from Calais to Saussignac which takes around 9 hours to drive. To reduce the driving time, you can catch a ferry further down the French coastline. Time given in brackets is from the French port to Saussignac. From Portsmouth to Caen (7 hours) or St. Malo (6 hours, 600 km), from Portsmouth/Poole to Cherbourg (7½ hours) or from Plymouth to Roscoff (7½ hours) at www.brittany-ferries.co.uk.

By Car:

Driving in France is generally very good with excellent clear motorways. Speed limits are 110 kph (70 mph) or 130 kph (80 mph) in good weather conditions. The majority of French motorways are toll roads. For maps or for an excellent itinerary to print off, go to

From Bordeaux Airport (Merignac):

From the rocade (ringroad around Bordeaux), follow signs to Bergerac along the D936. Take the first road on the right after entering the village of Gardonne signposted Saussignac and Golf de Vigiers (by the Renault garage). Ignore the first "Le Marais" signpost off to the left once you've crossed the railway line but continue on to Saussignac. Les Marais is situated on the left, opposite Chateau Les Meynots, 500 metres after the Chateau d'Eau (Water Tower). If you reach the crossroads at the bottom of the hill, you've gone too far. Travel time - 1hr 30 mins

From Bergerac:

Follow signs to Bordeaux along the D936. Take the second road on the left after the traffic lights in the centre of Gardonne, signposted Saussignac and Golf de Vigiers (by the Renault garage). Ignore the first "Le Marais" signpost off to the left once you've crossed the railway line but continue on to Saussignac. Les Marais is situated on the left, opposite Chateau Les Meynots, 500 metres after the Chateau d'Eau (Water Tower). If you reach the crossroads at the bottom of the hill, you've gone too far. Travel time - 15 mins

From Bergerac Airport (Roumanieres):

Take the exit road out of the airport and turn right at the T-junction. At the roundabout, turn left (3rd exit), signposted Bordeaux. At the next 3 roundabouts, drive straight across (2nd exit) towards Bordeaux. At the large roundabout by McDonalds and LeClerc, turn left (3rd exit), continuing towards Bordeaux on the D936. Then follow directions as above from Bergerac. Travel time - 15 mins

From Saussignac:

After leaving Saussignac, go straight across the crossroads at the bottom of the hill. Les Marais is the second house set back on the right. Travel time - 3 mins. If you reach the Chateau d'Eau (Water Tower), you've gone too far.
